Beginning the New Year

 I am finally updating.

I have been super busy. School is killing me... literally. I have not been getting enough sleep or nutrition, so I am not in good health at the moment. My immune system is down so now I get hives really easy. I never had hives before so I am a bit scared. My skin is not in good condition. My body becomes allergic to many things really easy now. SUCKS! Even the common cold strikes me very hard! It will take me a while to "recover." I hate these coughs. However, I think I am the only one who is noticing these problems. Good.

I love the weekends more than ever. I actually get to sleep. Mmmm~ so good. I am doing much better today. However, this will be short-lived because school is tomorrow and I have a lot of work to do. May will be the most busy month for me... actually, from now until May. Squeeze everything in.

Good luck.

Mmmm... On January 26th, I went on a field trip to the SFMOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Arts). It was extremely fun and inspiring. I went on the same trip last year as well, but it is different every time. This year, a special exhibit for Chuck Close was displayed,  so that was exciting. He was truly a revolutionary artist... may he rest in peace.
This is one of the field trips that I really enjoy attending because it involves art and because KUMO attends as well!! He is the only one I know so I am glad we go together. It works out well because he is also in the same art class as me.

I took many pictures of the area around the museum since we were not allowed to take photos inside. Thus, some of the pictures are random.

This was before we left. KUMO told me to take a picture of the seagull on the flag-pole because it was... there? I do not know. The sky was very blue that day... perfect for an outing, no?

This was on the way. I thought the scenery was beautiful. Even though I see it often, I never had a picture so I decided to take one. It looks like a painting.

We finally arrive. Before entering the museum, we all went to get some brunch----> to the METREON! Again, another beautiful sky.

The sky above the Dr. Martin Luther King memorial.

Before getting brunch, we all had a walk through the memorial. It was calming.

Waterfalls. At the other end of the memorial. Is it not breath-taking?

A shot of the Dr. Martin Luther King memorial and the MOMA behind it. Can you see? The MOMA is the red-ish building with the round window sticking out. The building is art itself.

Heading towards the METREON I spotted lovely flowers growing behind this lonely bench.

Inside the METREON. These children are playing with the lights. It is really cool!!! They were so entertaining to watch. Ahhh youth.

Heading towards the MOMA now...

More children!! Ahahaha!! This one was quite spunky! She was very outgoing. While we were walking she said hello to us and posed for my camera. Adorable, no?

This was when we were heading towards the back of the museum building to begin out tour. I thought this was interesting so I took a picture. There was a bunch of men who were wearing suits and were cleaning this structure. Business men taking a break and cleaning? This guy was left behind, but he continued scrubbing.

It had a very strong presence in real life.

After the tour we went to eat lunch.

KUMO is trying to take the money in the water! Bad! Just kidding.

Another seagull?

KUMO and I was separated from another buddy so we decided to sit and wait for him. All three of us were planning to eat together so ya... we needed his money too. Ahaha.

Alas, KUMO could not wait any longer so we decided to look inside and save a seat if we was not there.

We decided to eat sushi here. We still did not find Tom... but there were these two girls who wanted to eat with us, and since we did not care, we put our names on the waiting list as a group. When you're hungry, you're hungry. Besides, they would pay for the other half of the bill.

Random pictures while waiting. KUMO wanted to play DDR up there, but there was not enough time.

Tom (left) finally arrived!! We were all able to buy sushi together so it worked out well. KUMO was eating and became full... I took a picture when he had a stuffed face, but he moved!

After eating and heading towards the bus home. A pigeon! The figure of the pigeon matches the geometric shapes on the ground!

A picture of the bridge from the Buena Vista Center of the Arts building.

Everyone on the bus. The teacher wanted to take a picture of everyone...

... so did I.

While I was fumbling around trying to look for something, I suppose I accidentally took this picture of myself (or some part of myself). I like the colors.

I was listening to Kagrra, while on the bus home. Can you see what song it was?

Heading towards the freeway.

That is all.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Talent Show (1.26-1.28) was pretty good. Val wrote a little about it if you want to know more. We performed Karimero's [Kaishoku Photograph] and Alice Nine's [Yami ni Chiru Sakura]. Thursday was good for the first day, Friday was good too, and Saturday was not so good. Simple as that.
They filmed all three days and we were given copies. I took (many) random screen caps to display here:

The finish of [Yami ni Chiru Sakura]. Pretty interesting how they used the pink/magenta color lighting... reminds me of the music video.

-The End-

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

For Drawing and Painting class, we had to do a final project during the beinning of January. Here was the rules:
" -Choose a person in your life the seems "larger than life"
-You will be referencing photographs or the person you choose to represent to create a life size portrait
-Media:  Your choice of 2-D media
-Size:  Actual size of person
-Style:  Your choice (Surrealisms, Realism, Cubism...)
-Surface:  Paper (any color or texture), canvas, fabric...
-Your media, style and the surface you draw/painting the portrait on should reflect that individual"
This was fun. I was planning on doing a painting of my mother, but I had no photos of her whole body, plus she was not home most of the time. So my next person was Tetsu. However there were some complications that resulted in choosing another person. So my next person was Akiya from Kagrra,!

I put my own style to it so it looks a little different from Akiya. The coloring and texture of the fabric is also different... I made it easier for myself since I did it in one night! Yes, I waited until the last minute... and I emphasize the minute. I never learn my lesson... Despite that fact, I am very proud of my piece. It is still unfinished to this day, but I plan on finishing it if I am going to put it into my AP Portfolio. Even though I need to work on the finer details, I received an A on this assignment. All right~.
So here it is as it is now...

It looks bad in this picture because of the lighting. They stuck it into the corner... (T__T). Nooo~!!!!!!!!!
I used oil pastel with terpenoid, and acrylic painting on vellum paper. Vellum is light, clear, wax paper. That means if I put it up against a window, it will be see through!! It would look cool... translucent colors. However, I put different numbers of layers everywhere so it would actually look odd. I had to use two pieces of vellum and stick them together to make his whole body. See the weird split in the middle? It annoys me a little.
I actually made him LARGER than real life... he he he. This piece is huge in real life. I have bad calculations. Well he is "larger than life" to me...

KUMO painted Nao of Alice Nine. I must say it was a really nice piece. Here is a picture of the final product:

Pretty nice, no? I especially like the detailing of the shiny, violet fabric in the lower-left corner. Many people in our class liked the shading on Nao's sleeve. I agree that it was done well. Overall, a wonderful piece. I believe he did this with acrylic paint on cardboard. I am glad we are in the same class...

Chinese New Year has passed, but I still like to say "Happy New Years." I still have to say it to those who I meet for the first time in this new year. So...

May this year be filled with joy, adventure, prosperity... and maybe even tranquility for all.
May your flowers bloom...

This has been Aki. Have a good... month.
Entry Number 118 *end*
